HOPE Leadership Institute

HOPE Leadership Institute

Latinas are underrepresented in leadership roles across California, denying us equal access to economic and political power. The HOPE Leadership Institute® (HLI) is how we change that.

It is the first and only statewide leadership program specifically designed for professional Latinas in California, with a goal to train Latinas in vital leadership and advocacy skills, enabling them to create fundamental change within their local neighborhoods and across California.

HLI graduates have:

  • Served as judges, commissioners, elected officials, business owners, and more
  • Shaped workforce and housing policies
  • Advocated for pay equity, racial justice, and health care access

Report: Leading with HOPE

This in-depth study highlights the impact of Latinas in California as a demographic force and as leaders who are building a more equitable state. California Latinas tend to lead in ways that center equity, build bridges, and will be key to sustaining a robust multiracial democracy.
