The HOPE College Leadership Program (HCLP) invites first-generation Latina college students and recent grads to get the most from your education and build power within your community.

How to Apply
Applications for the 2024 HOPE College Leadership Program are now open! The application includes:
- Educational and professional information
- Headshot (preferably high-resolution .png or .jpeg). No selfies, please.
- Short bio
- Short response questions
- Agreement to sign confirming your commitment to the program
Activities
This national, four-month online course offers you the chance to:
- Connect with potential mentors through the Pop-Up Coach feature to guide you through completing your college degree and exploring different careers.
- Learn about policies affecting Latinas nationwide, and flex your political voice in a resume-building group civics project.
- Get trained on the workplace skills valued by top employers.
- Access online platforms for your job, internship, or scholarship search.
Commitment
As an HCLP participant, you are:
- Expected to attend the Young Professionals Summit in California (travel assistance provided to those traveling over 100 miles).
- Expected to participate in all training sessions.
- Expected to complete individual and/or group assignments.
- Expected to advocate on behalf of Latinas.
- Encouraged to contribute to the Friends of HOPE Network.
Qualifications
Successful HCLP applicants will be:
- A Latina between 18-24 years old.
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in a U.S. College/University.
- Committed to their community.
- From a low-income or underserved community.
Please note that while this program is designed for first-generation college students, all are welcome to apply. HOPE does not consider immigration status in determining admission to the program.
Scholarship Opportunity
To further support the educational attainment of Latinas, accepted HCLP participants will have the opportunity to apply for an educational scholarship to cover school expenses. Scholarship recipients are also recognized as a Future History Maker at the Latina History Day conference. Full details on the scholarship are shared with participants once the program is underway.
Costs
There is no cost to participate in this program. Registration fee for the Young Professionals Summit is waived, and travel assistance will be available for those traveling over 100 miles.
Alternative Opportunities for College Students
HOPE offers another, more condensed option for college students, where you can make connections with your peers and Latina leaders in person at the Young Professionals Summit, Latina Action Day and Latina History Day .
Activities
- Engage directly with political leaders on the issues facing our communities and strengthen your advocacy skills at Latina Action Day.
- Meet Latina leaders and learn about individual and community economic empowerment at Latina History Day.
- Connect with your peers and take the next step in achieving your academic and career goals at the Young Professionals Summit.
Costs
Students interested in attending a HOPE conference get a special rate. Participants are expected to pay conference registration fees and cover their own transportation.
