The Economic Status of Latinas Report - A Snapshot of the Nation, California and the HOPE Sample (a group of over 500 Latina women surveyed by HOPE) paints a picture of the increasing impact and role Latinas have in the State and U.S. economy. The report highlights Latinas’ increased levels of business ownership and educational attainment, while also pointing to how significant wage disparity and college debt burden are factors that affect Latina’ trajectory towards economic success.

Latinas must play an increasing role in setting California’s environmental policy agenda and with it the move towards more clean jobs and new economic opportunities. This report from ICF presents valuable information on some of the strategies to address California’s clean air goals while creating new economic opportunities. Specifically, renewable natural gas (RNG) produced in California and used in heavy-duty trucks outfitted with low NOx engines. The potential for the combination of low NOx trucks powered by RNG presents a compelling economic opportunity, and represents one of the few opportunities to develop a sustainable and robust alternative transportation fuel industry in California.
