2:00 p.m.  Teen Wellness Workshop

Young Latinas for College Showers!
Latina teens now rank as the largest minority group of girls in the country and are projected to remain so for the next fifty years.  As these young women transition to adulthood, they face particular risks at higher rates than other groups. For example, Latina teens have the highest teen pregnancy rates in the state, making up 67% of teen births in California. In response to this alarming statistic, HOPE has enlisted the support of The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and adolescent behavior expert, Cristina Gomez-Vidal, to develop the first HOPE Teen Wellness workshop. Their dynamic, culturally sensitive and teen friendly presentation was designed to leave participants with tools, mechanisms and ideas on how to best deal with the daily pressures of teenage life.
