QUALIFICATIONS

Participants are selected by partnering nonprofits across the state of California, with an emphasis on the following six regions:  Central Valley, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento, and San Diego.

  • Be identified by a HOPE Youth Community Partner in one of the six identified regions in the state (Central Valley, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento and San Diego)
  • 2.5 GPA
  • High School Junior (11th grade)
  • First generation college student (neither parent has a college degree)
  • Qualifies for the Federal lunch program
  • Commitment to the program

If your organization is not a Youth Community Partner you are encouraged to sign up as a HOPE Youth Affiliate.  Organizations, schools and other entities, agree to register and chaperone between 4 to 8 Latina youth that attend Latina Action Day, Sacramento or Latina History Day.  HOPE Youth Affiliates agree to perform a pre-conference orientation to prepare participants and a post-conference debrief to obtain participants' feedback and reaction to the conference.  We encourage organizations to sign up as soon as registration opens before making travel arrangements.   Other benefits may apply, such as discounted registration rates to Youth Affiliates.  When youth participate through a Youth Affiliate their experience is more organized, meaningful and rewarding for these reasons we do not accept individual registrations from youth.
