Youth Leadership

The HOPE Youth Leadership Program (HYLP) formerly the Youth Leadership through Literacy Program (YLTLP) is a statewide development program designed to prepare low-income, high school-age Latinas for a self-sufficient future that will allow for economic and political parity through a college education. The objectives of the HYLP include college preparation, financial empowerment, enhanced civic participation and the promotion of healthy living.

HOPE's Youth Leadership Program reaches about 300 high school-aged Latinas annually.  Thirty-two of these students will participate in an intensive program over a 6-month period (Track 1), while the rest (Track 2) will convene during HOPE's two largest conferences, HOPE Latina History Day and Latina Action Day, in Sacramento.
